Executive Chef Ron Baker

Chef Ron Baker is a native of New Zealand and completed his culinary apprenticeship at The Chateau Regency in Christchurch where he was schooled in traditional French cuisine. It set the stage for a lifetime of culinary adventures. His travels have taken him to the kitchens of Australia, Asia, India, Russia, Tahiti, France and Santa Barbara, finally settling in Portland.

Sara Perry, in her Tastemakers column in The Oregonian, says this about Ron, "Ron has a mind for recipes, a talent for numbers and seemingly infinite problem-solving abilities; skills that are invaluable in a busy catering company kitchen."

"Food in Bloom is a place where I can share with my staff what I've learned on my travels, and in return, I learn something new with every event," Baker says. "Routine is not an option here, and that's the way I like it."

When not in the kitchen, Ron enjoys his daily swim, gardening and his family.
